The Second Lives concept showcases how an artist’s practice can emerge alongside or be enriched by alternative careers and creative pathways.

Curated by Paula Lent and Jane Neal, the inaugural exhibition brought together works by a selection of leading contemporary artists; Sophie Bayntun, Helen Beard, Jyll Bradley, Wesley Eberle, Maryam Eisler, Nicole Farhi, Davina Jackson, Kate Jackson, Lucille Lewin and David Rae.

The artists’ second lives encompass successful careers in commercial and political strategy, fashion, film and set design, fine dining, music and publishing. What unites them is how these experiences have become a vital means of navigating their relationship with the world.
